Jesus Loved Us, and Washed Us in His Own Blood!

“…Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood” (Revelations 1:5)

Can you even begin to comprehend the great mystery that this scripture is showing us?

Jesus deserves nothing less than all our devoted love and service because he paid the ultimate price for us and “loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood” (Revelation 1:5) Of all that has already been said concerning Jesus, being King of all kings and Lord of all lords, being the Son of God, having been forever, having all authority and power in heaven and earth – this is way more than enough for us to understand our position before him as his creation. Just realizing this alone, we should easily recognize our position and be willing to serve him.

But yet there is another reason. An even greater and deeper reason that goes beyond reason and comprehension. Why such a one as Jesus, so great and almighty, would go beyond reason to humble himself – to not only visit us as one of us, but then go even further: and die for us!

As already stated in this blog and shown by the scriptures, all things were created by Jesus. When he created man and woman, he made them good, but also gave them the capability to make their own choice. Man (including you and me) went against the “good” that Jesus provided us and we went our own way and shamed our creator when we did. Could we expect him then to go so far as to take our punishment that we deserved, so that we could be “bought back” to God. We messed up the good he did in the first place! Why should he have to pay so drastically again to fix the mess we made and bring us back? It was our fault!

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:20)

“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.” (1 Peter 2:21-25)

This true realization and comprehension of Jesus’ great love for us in how he died for us is no doubt the greatest revelation of Jesus that has ever been revealed to the human race. Is our heart to hard and selfish to even be able to begin to comprehend this? How great is this mystery of God’s great love towards us who are unworthy!

“Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Ephesians 3:8-11)

Should we then put on a “show” of “social Christianity” and still continue in an unfaithful type of love and devotion by flirting with sinful things, or by spending most of our time on our own purposes and desires? Is this all we have to bring to Jesus? No matter what we claim, we do NOT comprehend this great revelation of love he has shown towards us:
