The Testimony of Jesus Christ, the Faithful Witness

“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness…” (Revelation 1:5)

Jesus said “I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth The Biblewitness of me.” John 8:18 The testimony of Jesus is that faithful witness to every soul. It bears witness of the truth of God’s Word and the intention of God to have it alive and working in people. It faithfully exposes sin and makes no room nor excuse for it in people’s lives. It faithfully shows the way to be delivered out of sin, if a person is honest and willing to believe and obey.

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.” I John 5:6

The true Spirit of God bears witness of the testimony of Jesus, and not of a testimony that claims Jesus, but tells lies, steals, curses, etc. Consequently, a true Christian will also have the testimony of Jesus, and the Holy Spirit will bear witness to an honest soul that a true Christian is actually true.

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (Note: They agree perfectly together as one in love.) And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.” I John 5:7-8

The water represents “the washing of water by the word” (Eph 5:26), and the blood represents the blood that Jesus shed for our sins. These three: Spirit, water, and blood also agree perfectly together in witness of the truth. The truth saves people and cleanses them (by faith in the blood of Jesus) and keeps them from all sinful and worldly desires (by the washing of water by the Word of God). This same truth of the Word also keeps and guides men into all truth in serving God, by the Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost. These agree perfectly together, and this three-fold witness is very great to the sincere and honest soul.

An insincere soul will seek for another witness from a man, a false preacher, to justify their sinful condition so that they can continue in sin and yet be called a Christian.

“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” I John 5:9-11

When you sincerely desire to read and understand the testimony of Jesus Christ, the Bible will witness to you of his great love and mercy. And this same love will also correct and warn us against the evils of sin. His great self-sacrifice for you and me is love beyond degree! Also, when you read the Bible, Jesus himself, by the Holy Ghost, will personally witness to your very soul. Through the circumstances of your life he will also witness to you of the reality of his truth.

Finally, if you will sincerely pray to him for help to turn away from all sin and to serve him, he will witness to you of his great grace and mercy for your soul.

There is no other witness on earth to compare to the faithful witness of Jesus Christ!
