“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches…” (Revelations 2:7)
Jesus makes this statement at the end of his message to each of the churches of Asia: “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches”. The implication is erg clear: not everyone has the humble, spiritual ear of an obedient servant. Not everyone has ears to hear.
Many will never, ever understand and receive this message. They will go away “scratching their head”, or firmly believing something that it does NOT mean.
“Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.” (Luke 8:16-18)
Take heed how you hear! If you have the pure “first” love for Christ and his plan, and for his one truth and one church that he established where only Jesus rules as King (see Matt 16:13-18), then you will see. But if not, whatever light you seem to have, will be taken away. And this is a lot of what the remainder of the Revelation message is about – taking away what people “seem to have”. In God’s mercy, (and if you have the humility to receive it), God will show you if you have less than a “first” love experience in your heart. Then you can “repent and do the first works” and get back to where you belong.
