Seven Churches – Seven Days (continued)

“By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.” (Heb 11:30)

Before the Israelites could conquer the promised land, they had to pull down and totally defeat the stronghold of that land: Jericho. The plan to defeat Jericho was a seven day plan laid out by Almighty God himself. Each day the whole Israelite army was to march around the City of Jericho with the priests sounding the seven trumpets. On the seventh day they were to march around seven times in one day, again, with the seven priests sounding the seven trumpets. After the last (seventh) time around (on the seventh day) the priests were to give a long and loud blast of the trumpets, and the whole army was to shout against the walls of the City and then the walls would come tumbling down. Then the army was to go forth and totally destroy the City. (see Joshua 6:1-21)

In parallel with the battle plan against Jericho, the seven churches of Asia are part of the battle plan against today’s spiritual stronghold city (spiritual Babylon – see Rev 17 – 18 ). The seven churches of Asia are the part that tells the church: “this is where you are” so that from there the church can move forward with the Revelation plan to get her “where she needs to be” – completely victorious following Jesus her mighty Captain. So the messages to the seven churches can also be seen as dividing the Gospel day into seven periods, or days of the church’s history.

Like how the army of the Israelites marched around the City of Jericho once each day and sounded the trumpets each time: so when the message of the seven seals was, and is sounded out by a true messenger of God, it reveals what happened in the hearts of men and women and what was causing that heart condition each day of the Gospel day (see Rev the 6th chapter.) Just as the army of Israel marched around Jericho seven times in one day (on the seventh day), so the seven trumpets are sounded out by the seven trumpet angels in the seventh seal/day (see Rev the 8th chapter.) Note: they are the same warnings and judgments of the previous days, but fully poured out in one day.

“But why did God have it done this way?” one might ask. Because God often uses examples of past Bible history and patterns to help us to understand his infinite wisdom and plan. (see I Cor 10:11, I Tim 1:16, Heb 9:5 and 9:23) The Revelation message reveals a battle going on according to the battle plan of Almighty God. A spiritual battle to pull down and destroy a spiritual stronghold in the hearts of men and women: the spiritual City of Babylon (see Rev 17 & 18 ).

After the Israelites: marched seven times around Jericho on the seventh day, then sounded a long trumpet blast, which was followed by the people joining in with shouting against the City of Jericho, then the walls fell and the City became completely exposed, so it could be destroyed. So today when the 7th trumpet angel sounds (see Rev 11:15) there follows a long sounding of the trumpet message, spanning from Rev 12 thru Rev 14, which is followed by 7 vials of the wrath/judgment of God being poured out (shouted out) against the spiritual City (in Rev 16), completely exposing spiritual Babylon (in Rev 17). Then this spiritual stronghold on the hearts and minds of people is destroyed by the army of the Lord (in Rev 18-19.)

Don’t forget! We are talking about a spiritual battle here, not a physical, carnal one. God’s people have never taken up physical swords to kill people, and never will!

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)” (2 Corinthians 10:3-4)
