“And immediately I was in the Spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.” ~ Revelation 4:2
Notice what “come up hither” (as mentioned in Revelation 4:1) meant: he had to respond by being in the spirit of worship; and once he was in the spirit, he spiritually was “up there.” And then notice what he saw spiritually (while still in a human body like you and me), he saw that “a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.” John was suffering persecution, but yet still worshiping, consequently in this high and lofty spiritual place, he was able to see right to the throne of God!
“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” ~ Isaiah 57:15
This has happened to many while they were being persecuted. They worshiped God, giving honor and glory to him, and God’s presence was there right with them to help them through! Remember in Acts the 7th chapter when Stephen was persecuted?
“But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God” ~ Acts 7:55
Probably the most important point of the whole chapter four of Revelation is: God is still on the throne! Jesus is still King of kings! The Holy Spirit is still working through the church! The true church still has a true ministry! And God’s people are still worshiping him as one in Spirit and in Truth!
Throughout the seven church ages the devil, through false religion and false ministers, has done everything to dim and confuse the light of the truth. But God is still ruling and having his way through it all. And through Christ Jesus, God’s people are still maintaining the victory through it all! Do YOU still have this vision and understanding, or has the devil successfully discouraged you and convinced you otherwise? If so, the Revelation message is purposed and designed by God to help you overcome your discouragement and confusion! The good news is that God wants you to also be an over-comer!
When we are truly worshiping in Spirit and in all of the truth, this is what we spiritually will see also. In spite of persecutions and the false worship of false Christians, we will still see that God is having his way! He is sitting on the throne and Jesus Christ still has all power in heaven and earth! People will either accept and serve Jesus his way, or they will be deceived according to the choice of almighty God. Yes! – God will choose their delusion!
“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” ~ 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12
God is still on the throne – and has never left the throne!
