“And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.” ~ Revelation 17:7

In the previous posts I showed how easily one can marvel and be impressed by the deception of religious hypocrisy. The Apostle John was amazed and wondered at the mystery of Christian outer adornments and behaviors that the spiritual harlot Babylon (false churches) was able to deceive by.

Abraham Lincoln has been quoted as saying “You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

A way to apply this saying to the deception of spiritual Babylon would be to say: “You can easily fool people with a beast like nature most of the time, but those with the Divine nature within, you can only temporarily fool.”

And so Revelation chapter 17 shows Babylon riding the beast, because those with a beast like nature are easily seduced and controlled by her.

But the apostle John could only be temporarily amazed by Babylon’s spiritual adornment. A true minister/angel (message bearer) reveals the truth concerning both Babylon and the beast, to John.

Again we read:

“And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.” ~ Revelation 17:7

Why does Revelation use beast like creatures to represent the spiritual fallen condition of mankind in the Earth? Because Revelation is utilizing the same spiritual descriptions that the rest of the scriptures in the Bible use to describe the fallen carnal condition of mankind. Because this is the way God sees man without a spiritual connection to him. In the beginning God created man in his spiritual image, holy and good, and able to dwell with him in the garden. But when man sinned he became carnal in nature, living according to his fleshly lusts. He took on a carnal nature similar to a beast, and became afraid of God’s presence.

“Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish… …Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.” ~ Psalm 49:12,20

"اما اینها چیزهایی را که نمی دانند بد می گویند، اما آنچه را که به طور طبیعی می دانند مانند حیوانات بی رحم در آن چیزها خود را فاسد می کنند." ~ یهودا 1:10

In Daniel, the King of Babylon was humbled by God so that he would act like a beast for a while. This was so that he would realize that he was no better than a beast without the help of Almighty God.

“The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws. And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.” ~ Daniel 4:33-37

Without God Nebuchadnezzar was no better than a beast. And so is everyone without God.

Also important: the usage of beasts to describe earthly human kingdoms was first introduced to us by the the prophecies of Daniel concerning the Babylonian Kingdom, and the subsequent kingdoms that would follow. (See Daniel chapters 7 and 8.)

In Daniel chapter 7 there are four beasts that represent four kingdoms:

  • Lion with eagles wings – represented the Babylonian Kingdom
  • Bear – represented the next Kingdom of Medo-Persian
  • Leopard with 4 wings and 4 heads – represented the Grecian Kingdom
  • Dreadful beast with 10 horns, iron teeth and nails of brass represented the Roman kingdom, out of whom later would come the Roman Catholic Church (read Daniel 7:23-26)

beasts of Daniel chapter 7

So now if we count all the heads from these beasts of Daniel we come up with seven heads (lion 1, bear 1, leopard 4, and dreadful beast 1, representing a total of 7). And all the horns (that came from the last dreadful beast 10). Making the total of the beasts of Daniel equal to seven heads و ten horns.

The dragon beast of Revelation 12 had seven heads و ten horns.

The beast of Revelation 13 had seven heads و ten horns.

And now also the final beast of Revelation 17 has seven heads و ten horns.

Seems to be a pattern here…

But yet there is a mystery concerning this deceptive harlot and the beast. A mystery that the judgement angel wants to show both John, and us.

«جانوری که دیدی بود و نیست. و از گودال بی انتها بالا خواهند رفت و به هلاکت خواهند رسید و ساکنان روی زمین تعجب خواهند کرد که نامشان از ابتدای جهان در کتاب حیات نوشته نشده است، چون وحشی را که بود ببینند، و نیست، و هنوز هم هست.» ~ مکاشفه 17:8

The beast that was (having a visible existence) and is not (is hidden) and yet is (is no longer hidden): Is actually the same one beast with seven heads and ten horns that also takes on a “Christian” form to temporarily hide itself.

To more clearly explain this, let us follow the “beast” story-line in Revelation.

“The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition…” (from Revelation 17:8)

In Revelation chapter 12 the beast was clearly satanic (as were all the pagans of that time). This beast represents all paganistic worshipers who would fight against and persecute the true church, the bride of Christ. During this time of many pagan religions and gods, the dragon is clearly visible, so it clearly existed: and so “it was.”

But in Revelation chapter 13 this dragon beast puts on fake robes of “Christian righteousness.” In history this is exactly what the Roman Catholic Church did. It is called “Roman Catholic” because it represents the universal church of Rome (or paganistic Rome professing to have become Christian, but yet is still living under the corruption of the devil’s temptations.) The dragon now claims to be the bride of Christ, and so the dragon “is not” (because it is hidden, claiming to be the Church) during this time.

“and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit”

After the Roman Catholic beast, later in Revelation chapter 13, we read of another beast that transitions spiritual control over to the final beast of Revelation. This transitional beast comes out of the bottomless pit, and wears the clothing of a lamb (but “speaks like the dragon”) so it can look Christian-like and harmless. But yet it has a deceptive message from Satan and convinces people to create and give life again to a beast that is universal, just like the beast before it. So in Revelation 13:11 we read of a beast coming back out of the pit in the earth.

«و من جانور دیگری را دیدم که از زمین بیرون آمد. و او دو شاخ مانند بره داشت و مانند اژدها صحبت می کرد.» ~ مکاشفه 13:11

بره-جانور اژدها

(Note: we see this description even clearer in Revelation chapter 20, after all religious clothing has been removed from the dragon and he is fully exposed. There the dragon beast alone is clearly being shown to be bound into a bottomless pit for a thousand years, only to be later released out of that same pit.)

This lamb-like beast in Revelation 13:11 represents fallen Protestantism: church organizations that came after Catholicism, but that also became full of hypocrisy and false doctrines. Later in history they would eventually become ecumenical and form the World Council of churches, (a “universal” organization which would also expand later into an effort to also include openly pagan religions). And so fallen Protestantism made an image to the beast that had seven heads and ten horns.

“And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.” ~ Revelation 13:14

Note: The beast that received a wound by a sword was paganism, when a ministry with the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) bound paganism with the chain of the Word of God. So that the dragon went into hiding for a thousand years (read Revelation the 20th chapter.) The spirit of the dragon (which is Satan) hid for a thousand years under the covers of the Catholic beast.

And so today, through the deceptive powers of fallen religious man, fallen Protestantism has now given life to the final 8th beast which includes all on the Earth through both the World Council of Churches and the United Nations (which is also “universal” in nature.) The World Council of Churches has formed a Ecumenical United Nations Office (EUNO) for working together with the United Nations. And since the 1960’s their has been a Joint Working Group between the Roman Catholic Church and the World Council of Churches.

This transitional lamb-like fallen Protestant beast…

«و او قدرت داشت که شمایل وحش را زنده کند تا تصویر وحش هم سخن بگوید و هم کسانی را که تمثال وحش را نپرستند کشته شوند.» ~ مکاشفه 13:15

Remember: Catholic means “universal” including people of all Nations. The United Nations is an image to this same universal purpose.

Now, do you have the spiritual wisdom to understand this strange relationship between the harlot woman (the hypocrisy of fake Christianity) and the earthly kingdoms and rulers of this world?

“And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.” ~ Revelation 17:9

Mountains represent kingdoms, and this is shown in the next verse and in the Old Testament in a prophecy against Babylon.

“And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the Lord. Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain. And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the Lord.” ~ Jeremiah 51:24-26

So the spiritual harlot condition of hypocrisy is being shown to be ruling in all the kingdoms of mankind.

Truly this was shown in a literal manner when all the national rulers of the world made room in their busy schedules to come and pay homage to the Pope when he passed away in 2005.

So where does this place us in time, in reference to Revelation the 17th chapter?

“And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.” ~ Revelation 17:10

These seven kings are synonymous with the seven heads, seven mountains and seven kingdoms. They represent the kingdoms of mankind throughout the history of the gospel day. The gospel day that started when Jesus first came to be anointed King in the hearts of those who love and obey him. Since the time he came as a babe to earth, the seven kings represent everyone during the gospel day who did not choose Jesus as King: but instead choose themselves to be king, or someone else to be king. The Jews were the first to do this.

“But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.” ~ John 19:15

Again we read the verse Revelation 17:10

“And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.”

This scripture is the only one in all Revelation that places what is revealed specifically in the time “present.” Five kingdom time periods “are fallen” or are past. And the sixth one “is.” And the seventh specifically “is not yet come.” And once the last one comes, it “must continue a short space.”

This scripture especially supports the notion that Revelation divides it’s spiritual message into seven distinct time periods of the gospel day. This scripture specifically states that a physical attribute of seven heads also corresponds to different mankind kingdom times in history.

Revelation was given to the Apostle John around AD 90. Does the “is” time period represent his day? It seems unlikely that before John, five of the Earth’s kingdom periods would already be past, with only one yet to come after John’s day. Could the last “short space” include almost 2,000 years? It does not seem to imply this.

But rather it seems to imply that the kingdom time period that represents “is” or present, is a time when the mystery of spiritual Babylon is revealed (and also the revelation of who the eighth beast is.)

In Revelation 10:7 we are informed of when these mysteries should be completely revealed.

“But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.” ~ Revelation 10:7

When the seventh trumpet angel ministry shall “begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished.” So if it is when he begins, then the mystery is largely already revealed during the ministry of the sixth trumpet. And this agrees with the time frame of “is” or “present” being during the time period of mankind’s sixth kingdom.

So again we read the verse Revelation 17:10

“And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.”

The mystery of the Revelation is completed during the beginning of the seventh trumpet ministry, which I believe also corresponds to the beginning of the last (seventh) kingdom of mankind that “must continue a short space.”

Many believe that the sixth period of time started during a movement of the late 1800s when many Christians believing in holiness of heart and spirit, began a call to begin true unity for all true Christians. This unity was based on salvation completely out of sin and a call to “come out of her my people.” The “her” they were to come out of was spiritual Babylon. They were revealing Babylon and her beast. This call was for people to separate from the divisions of man controlled religion. Many began to respond to this call.

As a reaction to this holiness/unity call (which at the time was the fastest growing Christian movement), many of the divided Protestant religions began to counter this movement by creating their own form of “coming together” based on something else called “ecumenism.” The result would be (without holiness) different denominations (still holding to their own preferred doctrines) would create a cooperative union to achieve certain agreed upon goals. As the years would go by, this ecumenism would be expanded to include non-Christian religions within the World Council of Churches.

At the same time, in agreement with this ecumenical “theme”, Nations would begin to try to do the same thing. First through the “League of Nations” and later through the United Nations.

These two cooperative strategies, created by mankind rule, are what especially makes up this final eighth beast of Revelation (which is an image to the universal kingdom that the Roman Catholic Church first created from Rome many years ago.)

The unionism of all religions represents mankind created unionism because they do not want the holiness and unity that is produced when Jesus Christ is honored as King of kings and Lord of lords. After Catholicism failed, it was the spirit of this religious unionism that started with Protestantism that gave life to this final beast (which is an image of the original Catholic beast.)

This final Revelation beast is essentially the same as the seven heads (or made up of the seven kingdoms of mankind) and it shall be sent into perdition, being cast into eternal torment.

“And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.” ~ Revelation 17:11

The eighth beast means there were seven beasts identified before him:

  1. Lion beast (of Daniel 7) with eagles wings – representing the Babylonian Kingdom
  2. Bear beast (of Daniel 7) representing the next Kingdom of the Medo-Persians
  3. Four headed Leopard beast (of Daniel 7) representing the Grecian Kingdom
  4. Dreadful beast with 10 horns (of Daniel 7), representing the Roman kingdom
  5. Red dragon beast (of Revelation 12) representing specifically Paganism in Rome, the “Imperial cult” of the Roman Emperors that started within years of the first coming of Jesus Christ and took hold during Christ’s lifetime on earth.
  6. Fake Christian beast (of Revelation 13) representing the Roman universal (Catholic) church kingdom
  7. False prophet lamb like beast (also of Revelation 13) representing fallen Protestant churches (the one that also creates the image of the beast, the “universal” image, and gives life to this final 8th beast)

Later in Revelation 19, this final eighth beast will be judged and cast into the lake of fire, along with the one who gave life to it: the lamb-like, false prophet, fallen Protestant beast.

«و وحش گرفته شد و با او نبی دروغینی که پیش از او معجزاتی انجام داد و با آن کسانی را که نشان وحش را گرفته بودند و آنها را که تصویر او را می پرستیدند فریب داد. این هر دو زنده در دریاچه ای از آتش که با گوگرد می سوزد، انداخته شدند.» ~ مکاشفه 19:20

So we must be sure that our heart is not carnal, or fleshly minded, like a beast. Or our final end will be part of this final beast’s judgement.

Whose kingdom do we belong to? The kingdom where fleshly man (ourselves or someone else) rules in our heart? Or the Kingdom of God, where the will of God, through Jesus Christ, rules in our heart?
