Pelayanan Perhatikan Makhluk Hidup!

“And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.” ~ Revelation 4:7

As also stated in the post before this one, the better word for these “beasts” is that in the original text: “living creatures.” These same living creatures are described in a similar manner by the vision of the prophet Ezekiel. He called them cherubim.

“As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.” ~ Ezekiel 1:10

The likeness of these creatures are also shown in the vision of Isaiah. Isaiah called them seraphims.

“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.” ~ Isaiah 6:1-2

Finally note that these same creatures are shown in the Old Testament tabernacle, being placed to oversee the mercy seat of the Ark, and being lined along the walls of the tabernacle.

It is important to note that every place in scripture where these living creatures are mentioned, they always surround the very presence of Almighty God himself! They minister before the Lord, doing his will and leading by example in worshiping the Almighty. When they worship and give glory to God, many others fall on their face also in reverence and worship of God.

These living creatures represent the responsibility that a true ministry has before God. So we must pay particular attention to their characteristics as shown in scripture, lest we miss things that are critical for our understanding and spiritual success!

In Revelation 4:7 each creature is described as having a different kind of face: the first a lion, the second a calf, the third a man’s face, and the fourth as a flying eagle. All of these have a spiritual description in scripture that informs us as to the spiritual character of these creatures.
