“And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.”~ Revelation 6:2

The scripture here describes one going forth to a warfare, and conquering! As the King, and as a mighty warrior, Jesus is shown going forth to battle on a white horse (horses were utilized for battle, and in Revelations they represent a vehicle for mobilizing for warfare.)

The scripture in the Old Testament prophesied of Jesus riding into a spiritual battle upon his last entrance into Jerusalem.

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.” ~ Zacharia 9:9-10

In the New Testament the record of his triumphant entry was recorded as follows:

“On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.” ~ John 12:12-15

Jesus’ triumphal entry is a spiritual one for a spiritual kingdom, for his weapons are not earthly weapons of warfare:

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)” ~ 2 Corinthians 10:3-4

Therefore when Jesus carries a bow, it never implies that he is leading a carnal battle where people are physically killing one another. But yet the word used does designate a “battle bow.” A battle bow is for shooting arrows. And spiritual arrows have the same “awakening” effect as lightning and thunder!

• “The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire. Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.” ~ Psalm 18:13-14
• “The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad. The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.” ~ Psalm 77:17-18

As already noted in the prior post to this one, which is talking about the same “opening event”: when the first seal was opened there was a sound of spiritual thunder. (See: “Та Сүнслэг аянгын нүргээн сонссон уу?”)

The battle is the body of Christ, the Church (also known as the bride of Christ), going out to spiritual battle against those who oppose Christ. The Song of Solomon prophesied concerning the bride of Christ, the Church, as being compared to horses for battle:

• “I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots.” ~ Song of Solomon 1:9
• “Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?” ~ Song of Solomon 6:10

This white horse Jesus is riding represents the true ministers of Jesus Christ that Jesus directs into battle, just as God’s prophets of old (Elijah and Elisha) were called “the chariot of Israel and the horsemen thereof” (see 2 Kings 2:12 & 2 Kings 13:14)

Finally also note that verse 2 states “a crown was given to him”. Now we know that the only earthly crown given to Jesus by man was the one made of thorns (see John 19:1-5). But God raised Jesus to a greater glory and did crown him by that same event to the highest place of honor!

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” (Heb 2:9)

Those who follow Jesus also recognize the crown of righteousness and authority that he wears; for he alone is King of all kings!

“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” ~ Revelation 19:16

Have you been conquered by his mercy and love? Do you recognize him as your King by complete obedience to his Word?
