Again, in Revelation 3:12 Jesus states: “Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out.” Collectively, the true people of God are the church. Those who prove themselves true to Jesus will be a solid standing “pillar” supporting the true worship of God:
- “But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” (I Timothy 3:15)
- “And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.” (Galatians 2:9)
In every church age, (all seven of them: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea,) God has had true “pillars” who have stood true to Jesus:
“Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars” (Proverbs 9:1)
These non-moveable pillars for the truth have stood against sinners, and religious so-called Christian sinners, to preach to them the truth: that they needed to get honest and repent of their false way.
“Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.” (Jeremiah 1:17-19)
A pillar will “go no more out.” What does he mean? Pillars cannot be moved! Someone that is a pillar in God’s church will stand firm and will not do sin. Nor will they go back to just being a religious member of any so-called “Christian” church or fellowship that does not stand up for obeying all of the Word of God. As pillars they stand on the foundational truth that Jesus is the only savior and head of His church; and Jesus is only married to one bride of Christ: and that only includes the people that are true, obedient, and faithful to Jesus alone.
When you become established in the truth, you become established as part of the larger temple of the Lord. An established Christian will stand firm and faithful to the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ, and will also “line up” with the life and testimony of the chief corner stone: Jesus Christ.
“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:19-22)
