Revelation Chapter 20 – Setting the Gospel History Record Straight

Let us first briefly set the context straight for Revelation chapter 20:

First, earlier in Revelation chapter 12, Paganism, in the form of a red dragon representing the open Pagan religions under the Roman empire, is shown persecuting the church.
Next, the Roman Catholic beast is shown in Revelation 13, also persecuting Christians.
Then after the beast, the lamb-like beast is shown in the form of fallen Protestant churches. This false prophet beast later creates an image to the beast representing the final beast of Revelation 17 that reflects the ecumenical World Council of Churches and the United Nations.
But in Revelation chapters 17 through 19 all these beasts are exposed and their influence destroyed, এবং the influence of the fake Christian condition of Babylon is completely destroyed.
So now that all the religious self-righteous covers are destroyed, in Revelation chapter 20, the gospel day story is retold, showing that in reality it always has just been a battle with Satan the Red Dragon, who often operated under the cover of religion.

And so we now pick up the Revelation message at chapter 20. Remember, all fake “Christian robes” of religion have been removed at this point of Revelation.

“And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.” ~ Revelation 20:1

The bottomless pit is revealed in three different places in Revelation, prior to here in chapter 20.

In Revelation chapter 9 – a fallen star (representing a fallen angel/messenger, or a backslidden gospel ministry) has the key to “open up” the bottomless pit. The key represents the gospel placed in the hands of a deceitful fallen ministry. With the misuse of this gospel key, they open up the bottomless pit, and release a message of lies that has no foundation in truth. A “bottomless pit” message. That is why they are shown as releasing a cloud of darkness from a bottomless pit. A bottomless pit is a place of no foundation. You can’t build a true spiritual life upon a bottomless pit.

Salvation, through only Jesus Christ, is the sure foundation which will fully deliver you from all sin, and give you the power to live holy. The bottomless pit message claims Jesus, but yet leaves you as a so called “sinning Christian” without victory in your soul. This is a tormenting message that binds you with fear, but yet never delivers you from your sins.

And so in Revelation chapter 9, this ministry of torment and lies controls and deceives people, and is also labeled a destroyer by the names “Abaddon” and “Apollyon.”

Then later in Revelation 11:7 and in Revelation 17:8 we are shown that the second beast also comes up out of the bottomless pit. This beast represents the same Spirit of Apollyon/destroyer. It represents open paganism (multi-god religions) arising out of the pit in the fake form of multiple “Christianity” via the many divisional sects of Protestantism.

The scriptures teach that when Christ saves a soul that he makes them part of only one church. His one church is holy and in unity, and lives obedient to the Word.

Paganism teaches that there are multiple churches and ways to get to heaven, and that you can believe many different things. Paganism wants a union of different churches that believe different, to confuse and deceive people. In addition, Paganism wants you to claim to be a Christian, and yet continue to live with sin in your life.

Paganism’s message comes from the bottomless pit, a place with no foundation in gospel truth. This is accomplished through false “Christian” ministers who mix paganistic lies with the truth, creating a false belief system.

Jesus Christ, and his gospel is the true foundation of the church. So when Peter identified Jesus as the Christ, the Savior of the world: Jesus said upon himself, the solid foundation, he would build his church.

“…and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” ~ Matthew 16:18
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” ~ 1 Corinthians 3:11

It takes a true and faithful ministry to carefully use the Word of God under the direction of the Spirit of God. Allowing God to lead, a true ministry can use the keys of the gospel to bind the falseness of paganistic lies, and at the same time, spiritually bind up a false ministry.

When did an angel bind Satan for a thousand years?

Jesus said he would give his ministry the keys of the gospel to bind and to lose.

“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” ~ Matthew 16:19

The word “angel” in the original means messenger from God. In Revelation, this often represents a human ministry.

“And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.” ~ Revelation 22:8-9

And so, in spiritual language, we are given in Revelation chapter 20 a vision of a ministry (using the word “angel”) that have the key of the gospel. With this key they bind up the lying powers of Satan who works through paganistic lies.

“And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.” ~ Revelation 20:1-3

Through the apostles and disciples of the Lord, the gospel eventually went out to the gentiles. As it did, they quickly found themselves in a major battle with the forces of Paganism. But the gospel was like a chain to paganistic lies: and the power of Satan to deceive with the multiplicity of gods and religions was bound up. Prior to this, the countries the gospel went to were deceived by Satan’s message of many gods, and many ways to sacrifice to their different competing gods. But the truth bound up these lies, there for the scripture states “…and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more…” People in those countries still needed to be saved from their sins, but during this 1,000 year time they understood that there was only supposed to be one God and one people of God. (Today, after Satan has been released for many years, people are very confused about God and his one people, the church.)

This power to battle with the “sharp two-edged sword” of the gospel, and bind evil kingdoms with the chains of the gospel, was even prophesied of in the Old Testament.

“For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the Lord.” ~ Psalm 149:4-9

So, in the minds and hearts of the people around the church, when the gospel battled Paganism, Paganism became completely bound into its pit of no foundation for a thousand years that is commonly known as the “middle ages”, starting in the sixth century around AD 530. But once the multiplicity of Protestant doctrines and sects began to arise (starting around 1530), the spirit of Paganism, in the form of many religious ways to reach God, and many religions/churches, was again released upon the church people (people associated with the church).

Prior to Protestant sect building, the multiplicity of doctrines and gods had to hide within the universal Catholic Church, where only the teaching of one God and one doctrine was allowed. So Satan had to focus on promoting hypocrisy and false doctrines within the context of “one God, one church, and one doctrine.” Within this context, the spiritual harlot condition of Babylon began to rise and come into great power through the universal Catholic Church.

Now when false Christianity, in the form of the Roman Catholic Church arose, she also began to persecute true Christians. And in persecuting true Christians, the Catholic Church accused and prosecuted true Christians as if they were the worst of criminals.

This Revelation message was given to set the record straight. These Christians who were imprisoned and killed during the period of the rule of Popes and Bishops, are God’s true people. Their record needs to be vindicated against the lies and sufferings imposed upon them. And also against the sufferings brought upon all true Christians that have had to endure persecution at the hands of hypocrites who claim to be “Christian”. But these suffering Christians were actually the true conquerors and kings!

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~ Romans 8:34-39

Only the Revelation of Jesus Christ can show the true light to be able to see the true spiritual condition in the hearts and lives of individuals and religious organizations. When that light is shown, then everyone can glorify God for his help during the time of waiting, and the time of revelation.

“Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.” ~ 1 Corinthians 4:5

So now, prior to chapter 20, the Revelation message has shown:

Satan used the dragon beast powers of Paganism to battle the true church (shown in Revelation the 12th chapter).
Satan then transferred his power to the Roman Catholic beast of Revelation chapter 13, and through this beast power he persecuted and killed many true Christians. And during this time (approximately 1,000 years) Satan’s deception of many religions and many gods was confined and locked up into the “bottomless pit”.

"এবং আমি সিংহাসন দেখেছি, এবং তারা তাদের উপর বসেছিল, এবং তাদের কাছে বিচার দেওয়া হয়েছিল: এবং আমি তাদের আত্মাদের দেখেছি যারা যীশুর সাক্ষ্যের জন্য এবং ঈশ্বরের কথার জন্য শিরশ্ছেদ করা হয়েছিল, এবং যারা পশুর পূজা করেনি, না তার মূর্তি, না তাদের কপালে বা তাদের হাতে তার চিহ্ন পায়নি; এবং তারা বেঁচে ছিল এবং খ্রীষ্টের সাথে এক হাজার বছর রাজত্ব করেছিল।" ~ প্রকাশিত বাক্য 20:4

During this thousand year “middle ages” time (roughly from 530 AD to 1530 AD) true Christians were severely persecuted by that which claimed to be the church. But the true people of God during this time did not accept the false teachings and beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church that attempted to corrupt their soul and their relationship with Jesus. Therefore they did not worship the Roman Catholic beast religion. Nor did they accept the beast’s mark in their forehead (the false teaching), nor did they accept the beast’s false fellowship (the mark in the right hand). And they did not try to create their own replicated form of Protestant beast religion under their own control (an image to the beast).

So now the Revelation message has pulled the false “Christian” covering off of the beast, so that now, in Revelation chapter 20, we can see who the true kings really are. The Roman Catholic Church was না the king! But rather it was those true Christians whom the Catholic Church persecuted. In times past (shown in Revelation chapter 6), these persecuted Christians cried to the Lord to vindicate them and reveal the wrong being done against them by fake “Christians”.

“And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.” ~ Revelation 6:9-11

Now in Revelation chapter 20 all has been fulfilled. The spiritual powers of the beast, including the Protestant false prophet, and the harlot Babylon, have all been exposed and their influence defeated. Now we see that it has always only been a battle between Satan and true Christians. These true Christians who have suffered throughout the ages at the hands of fake “Christians”, are actually the true church!

Back in the Old Testament, Daniel also prophetically saw this same vision of Revelation chapter 20.

“I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.” (Daniel 7:21-22)

The time has come that Jesus has revealed and executed judgement in behalf of his true Saints, showing that these persecuted ones are truly the Kingdom people. Jesus has revealed who is true and who was a fake. Now that the fakery of Catholicism and fallen Protestantism has been exposed, in Revelation chapter 20 we see that it was always just a battle between Satan and the persecuted true people of God. And the persecuted Christians were really the true kings who reigned with Christ during this time!

And the rest of those who were dead in trespasses and sins (those outside of this persecuted church) were not able to find gospel repentance and salvation until after this thousand years were finished.

“But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.” ~Revelation 20:5

What is meant in Revelation 20:5 by “the first Resurrection?”

Sin in the life causes a person to be dead in their soul, even though they may still be living on Earth.

“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” ~ Ephesians 2:1-6

So when Jesus Christ forgives and saves us, he resurrects us out of the death of sin, into a new life, free from sin.

“অতএব যদি কেউ খ্রীষ্টে থাকে তবে সে একটি নতুন সৃষ্টি: পুরানো জিনিসগুলি চলে গেছে; দেখ, সবকিছুই নতুন হয়ে উঠেছে।” ~ 2 করিন্থীয় 5:17

So the first death, is the death of the soul when it sins. This is why God told Adam and Eve in the garden that in the day they disobey his commandment, they would die.

“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” ~ Genesis 2:16-17

So now because all have sinned, we need to be resurrected out of the life of sin, into a new life free from all sin. This is “the first Resurrection.” Then, once we have been resurrected from the first death that came to our soul by sin, we now can avoid the second and final death: which is being lost in hell forever.

“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” ~ Revelation 20:6

Even though many, if not most Christians, died under persecution during this thousand years, because they were already resurrected out of sin by Jesus Christ, the second death had no power over them, to condemn them!

“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” ~ 1 Corinthians 15:55-57

So again, this is why in Revelation chapter 20 it states:

“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.” ~ Revelation 20:4-5

And during this thousand years, most who were true Christians, suffered persecution. Those who chose to give in to pressure and not suffer for Christ, they were still dead in their soul. Those who died for Christ “lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” But the rest were dead spiritually, even while they were living. And it was not until this persecution stopped, that others could also be saved without having to necessarily lose their physical life for the gospel. That is why it states: “But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.” After the thousand years, they could enjoy the first resurrection without necessarily having to lose their physical life. But during the thousand years, those who lived on in sin, were actually spiritually dead as they continue to live in sin and follow the false teachings of the Catholic church.

“But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.” ~ 1 Timothy 5:6

And in spiritual reflection of this scripture: during those thousand years, those who were part of the unfaithful woman (the Catholic church), chose to live in the pleasure of hypocrisy. And so they were spiritually dead while they yet physically lived.

So after this thousand years of Catholic persecution, next came the time of the many divisional sects of fallen Protestantism. God has only one church! To divide up God’s people into divided sects and false doctrinal beliefs is itself a great deceptive sin against God. It is a return to the pagan deception of many gods and many religious ways.

This is what exactly happened after the thousand years of Catholic rule.

“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.” ~ Revelation 20:7-8

And so after many years of Protestant divisional sects, we have had major deceptive doctrines and many false prophets rise up to fight against the pure truth of the gospel. Prophecy from the Old Testament also refers to this as a spiritual battle with an evil and wicked people who still live in sin. People who love all kinds of hypocrisy. People without respect for God and his Word. Also in the Old Testament they are described as “Gog and Magog.”

Who are the Bible kingdoms of “Gog and Magog”?

“Gog and Magog”, has always represented any people who would conspire together to resist the truth of God’s Word, and to resist and persecute the true people of God. This is a spiritual battle that has gone on throughout history at many different times.

“Thus saith the Lord God; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them? And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in my face. For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord God: every man’s sword shall be against his brother.” ~ Ezekiel 38:17-21

Spiritual Israel today are all the saved in Christ Jesus. Today the true Christians are spiritual Jews.

“For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” ~ Romans 2:28-29

Therefore, just as in the past, today God has promised that by his very presence he will shake all the spiritual houses that man have built (religions of mankind), until only those things that cannot be shaken still remain.

“See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.” ~ Hebrews 12:25-29

What this shows us is: even the “heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (see Ephesians 1:3 & 2:6 representing the church gathering for worship), will be spiritually shaken. Sometimes we are very surprised at what and whom gets shaken out of the church!

So this spiritual battle against spiritual “Gog and Magog” identified in the Old Testament and in Revelation 20, is still happening today. And God still has a ministry that preaches against the false teachings of fake so-called “Christianity”.

So further in Ezekiel the judgement against Gog and Magog is laid out.

“And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord.” ~ Ezekiel 38:22-23

“Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it , saith the Lord God. And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord. So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.” ~ Ezekiel 39:4-7

The prophetic language of Ezekiel against Gog and Magog (some of it almost word for word) is the same as is reflected in Revelation chapter 19, verses 17 through 21. When people want to fellowship hypocrisy and put down true Christians, God will sacrifice those same hypocrites to deception. Consider this as you read this next passage.

“And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord God; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood. Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan. And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord God. And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward.” ~ Ezekiel 39:17-22

And so, the finality of this spiritual preaching judgement against the hypocrisy of fake religion is shown being spiritually poured out in Revelation chapter 20.

“And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.” ~ Revelation 20:9

Every time persecution has been raised against true Christians, whatever the persecuting organization (whether government, Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, or any other form of pagan religion), the persecuting organization loses the spiritual battle. They may succeed in killing many Christians (like how they killed Christ) but the Christians won the spiritual battle. The Christians went to heaven, and the people of the religion opposing them were lost and went into hell.

And so it is only appropriate that the final scriptures of Revelation chapter 20 should finish by showing this final judgement day.

“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.” ~ Revelation 20:10-12

There will be no escape for anyone from facing Jesus Christ on this final judgement day.

“কারণ লেখা আছে, আমি জীবিত আছি, প্রভু বলছেন, প্রত্যেক হাঁটু আমার কাছে নত হবে, এবং প্রতিটি জিহ্বা ঈশ্বরের কাছে স্বীকার করবে। তাহলে আমাদের প্রত্যেকেই ঈশ্বরের কাছে নিজের হিসাব দিতে হবে।” ~ রোমানস 14:11-12
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” ~ Philippians 2:10-11

And there is the “book of Life” and the “books” that we all will be judged by. The Book of Life is where your name is written down when Jesus saves you from and out of sin. Do not be deceived by the false beast religions of mankind, because your name will not then be in the Book of Life!

“And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him (the beast), whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” ~ Revelation 13:8

The “books” that we will be judged by are the books of the Bible. There are 66 of them in the Bible. Take the time to read, study, and live by them. We will all be judged by the “books” of the Bible as a whole. Not just a scripture here or there, but by every word as a whole from this book of 66 books.

“And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:13-15

So in one chapter of Revelation (the 20th chapter of Revelation) we have a summarized view of the whole Gospel day (from the first advent of Jesus Christ, until the end of the whole world) – all clarified by the removal of fake “Christianity” from the historical record. Have the fake “Christianity” deceptions been removed from your heart and life? Will the second death have any power over you? Have you taken part in the first resurrection?
