Finally in Revelation 3:12 Jesus promises that “I will write upon him my new name.” Where does Jesus write this “new name”? He writes it in the heart of those who are faithful and true, and that love and adore him.
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Revelation 19:11-16)
Those who love him above all also shew the Word of God, and Jesus as “King of kings and Lord of lords” written in their hearts:
“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.” (2 Corinthians 3:2-3)
By a pure and true heart, we from our hearts honor him as King and Lord:
“That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” (1 Timothy 6:14-16)
With a physical mouth a person can say “Jesus is Lord” but no man can say in truth that Jesus is his Lord, without the Holy Ghost reigning supreme in their heart. I mean Jesus is Lord over your will, your plans, your passions, and your very loved ones and physical life. You obey all his Word and don’t sin, and Jesus has the right to change any aspect of your life to fulfill his purpose:
- “Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.” (1 Corinthians 12:3)
- “…for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:14)
It takes the Holy Ghost within, and reigning in your heart for you to be able to truthfully say: “Jesus is my Lord.” Can you say it? Is the name Jesus “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS” written upon your heart?
