“…or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” (Revelations 2:5)
As stated in earlier posts, the candlestick represents the light of the church, which is her burning love for the true light, Jesus Christ (see “استدر لترى ضوء الشمعدانات الذهبية السبعة“)
The “place” where the candlestick belongs is in the tabernacle.
Just as the candlestick was the “brightness” in the Old Testament Tabernacle that provided light to see by to properly perform the worship service, so the light of the true church of God is the only light we have to be able to see by, to properly worship God from today’s tabernacle – our hearts.
If our “first love” is not Jesus, we are warned in scripture that the light will be taken away from our heart-tabernacle: “Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.” (Job 18:5-6)
Our love needs to be “single”, focused first on the Lord, with no mixture of darkness. Otherwise our “light” (the love – the motivation for the good things we do) will become tainted by the preferences of people. And if our light is tainted, it will be rejected by God, and thus become darkness. It may even become so dark that you will continue to profess to be a Christian, even though you know you still have sinful desires in your heart.
Again repeated from the scripture above “…and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.”
“No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single” (focused first on the Lord) “thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil” (anything other than “single” – a mixture) “thy body also is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.” (Luke 11:33-36)
Again I repeat from the scripture above “Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.” Take heed that you do not mix darkness with your light (mix other reasons or agendas in.) Take heed that the reason for you doing your good works is first to please God, and not to first please men. If it is to please men, you eventually will mix evil works with it so you can continue to please men – including pleasing “professing Christianity” men.
“If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.”
